Innovations of the Customs Code of the EAEU were discussed by representatives of customs and business in Grodno
A seminar with the participation of Belarusian customs officers and the business community was held today in Grodno. The delegation of the State Customs Committee, Grodno regional customs and about 50 business entities of the Grodno region took part in the event under the leadership of the Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee
The innovations in the customs legislation, which will come into force on January 1, 2018, as well as the provisions of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus of November 23, 2017 No. 7 "On the Development of Entrepreneurship" were considered at the seminar.
A number of innovations covered by the Customs Code of the EAEU aimed at simplification and acceleration of customs procedures, optimization of joint activities of customs authorities and participants in foreign economic activity were discussed. Most attention was paid to such institutions as an authorized economic operator and a free economic zone.
Representatives of the business community noted that the innovation to reduce the time of release of goods placed under all customs procedures, up to 4 hours, would significantly reduce time, simplify the implementation of customs declaration and wide application of electronic document management, automatic release of goods.
Attention was also focused on the norm of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus No. 7, which provides for a reduction of penalty for late payment of customs duties. Such benefits are provided to the entities that paid the debt prior to the decision to collect payments and penalties or repaid it within 10 days from the date of such decision.
During the meeting, other issues related to the joint work of customs authorities and business entities were also discussed.
