International scientific and practical conference "Eurasian Economic Union: a new Customs Code - new opportunities for business" was held in Brest
Traditionally, the authorities and representatives of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Belarus and customs, customs services of Russia, Latvia, Poland, the Eurasian Economic Commission, ministries and departments of Belarus took part in the conference. Specialists from Belarusian higher educational institutions and the management of the business community of Belarus participated in the discussion of topical issues regarding the innovations in the new Code.
"Today, the single Eurasian market is considered one of the main sources of growth in the economies of the region, including through the free movement of goods. This cannot be achieved without the maximum simplification of administrative procedures, reducing formalities and eliminating unnecessary barriers," - the Chairman of the State Customs Committee Yury Senko noted in his welcoming address to the participants of the conference.
The representatives of the customs authorities made presentations on the changes in customs regulation, provided by the Customs Code of the EAEU, the use of such regulation in free economic zones, the improvement of the legislation of Belarus in connection with the adoption of the new Customs Code, and others. The representatives of the Eurasian Economic Commission told about new decisions of the EEC, the forthcoming stage of development of customs information technologies.
Thus, the participants of the conference discussed the prospective and current issues in the implementation of foreign economic activities, familiarized themselves with the main innovations in the main areas of work of the customs authorities of the EAEU countries, the new provisions of the Customs Code of the EAEU and the mechanisms for its practical implementation.
All those present assessed the new Customs Code, indicating that with its adoption, the government and business directly involved in the development of the document have high hopes. The application of the best international practices focused on the use of information technology, a risk management system, will significantly enhance the activities of entities engaging in foreign economic activity. The modern principles of customs administration laid down in the Customs Code of the EAEU are based on international standards in the sphere of customs and international best practices.
"First of all, we will further modernize the process of customs administration, since Belarus is a country with an export-oriented economy and transit openness. Our initiatives will regard to the simplification of the movement of transit cargo. The Belarusian part of the external contour of the customs border of the Eurasian Economic Union will be settled,"- Yury Senko emphasized.
Conferences of this kind are a good example of joint search for solutions and establishing constructive interaction between state structures and the business community.
Within the framework of the event, the Chairman of the State Customs Committee Yury Senko and the participants of the conference visited the memorial complex "Brest Hero Fortress", where they laid flowers to the Eternal Flame.
State award ceremony to Brest customs officers was held on the territory of the fortress.
"I am confident that the state awards handed today will be an incentive for new achievements for the benefit of the country, and your work will necessarily be a worthy example for colleagues and young people!" - noted the Chairman of the State Customs Committee.
