Non-declaration of 40 thousand euros is criminal case
Officials of Brestustoms found a large amount of undeclared currency at Varshavsky Most republican customs clearance point.
A 54-year-old Russian citizen, who crossed the border along the "green" corridor as a passenger of a Ford car, told the customs officer that he was moving 8 thousand euros.
During the customs control, in addition to the foreign currency, 32,000 euros were found among the personal belongings of the citizen.
40 thousand euros were seized until the court decision. The customs initiated the criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Art. 228 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.
The State Customs Committee recalls that cash moved across the border in the equivalent of over $ 10,000 is subject to obligatory customs declaration.
In accordance with the legislation, when you transfer undeclared cash in excess of the equivalent of $ 30,000, criminal liability is provided in the form of a fine, or a freedom restriction penalty for a period of 2 to 5 years, or imprisonment for the same period (p. 2 Article 228 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus).
