Employees of the Brest customs at the checkpoint" Mokrany " detained a citizen of Ukraine who intended to import marijuana to the territory of the Eurasian economic Union.
The 45-year-old Ukrainian was traveling to Belarus as a passenger in a HYUNDAI ACCENT car, where a service dog indicated the presence of prohibited substances.
During customs control, about 2 grams of a substance similar to marijuana were found in his travel bag. The citizen made an attempt to break the package with the drug and throw it away, which was not allowed by the Brest customs officers. The substance was seized and sent for examination.
The conclusion of the expert of the State Committee of forensic examinations of the Republic of Belarus for the Brest region confirmed the suspicions of the customs officer - the substance turned out to be a drug - marijuana.
A criminal case was opened against a Ukrainian citizen by the Brest customs under part 1 of article 328-1 of the criminal code of the Republic of Belarus. For committing a crime, the sanction of this article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a period of 3 to 7 years with or without payment of a fine.
