An attempt to illegally move goods in hiding places was detected by Grodno customs officers – more than 600 packs of heating tobacco were found under the dashboard and decorative lining of the car (video)
A 33-year-old citizen of the Republic of Lithuania tried to illegally import more than 600 packets of heating tobacco in stickers to the European Union. An enterprising driver, who was passing through the checkpoint "Privalka" packed tobacco in the empty spaces of his car.
The presence of goods, hidden in a passenger car, was established using an X-ray inspection complex. According to the results of scanning and subsequent inspection, customs officers extracted 370 packets of heating tobacco in stickers from under the front dashboard of the FORD GALAXY, and another 250 were behind the decorative trim of the rear compartment.
According to the revealed fact, the Grodno regional customs has started an administrative process in accordance with part 2 of article 14.1 of the administrative Code of the Republic of Belarus. The sanction of the article provides for both the confiscation of illegally moved goods and the vehicle in which such goods were hidden.
