Minsk customs officers stopped an attempt to illegally import about 17 thousand units of prohibited fishing nets, which are long enough to cover the rivers Dnipro, Neman, and half of Pripyat, flowing through the territory of the Republic of Belarus (video)
Minsk customs officers revealed the fact of illegal movement of about 17 thousand units of fishing nets prohibited for import to the territory of the Eurasian economic Union, which were traveling from China to the Republic of Belarus.
During the inspection of the Scania truck, Customs officers found fishing nets, the actual size of which was significantly different from the data stated in the shipping documents.
Experts of the Customs laboratory confirmed the assumptions: the actual size of the yaks was less than 100 mm, and the diameter of the threads was less than 0.5 mm. Fishing nets with such characteristics are an instrument of extraction (catch) of aquatic biological resources, prohibited for import into the territory of the Eurasian economic Union (Decision of the Board of the EEC of 21.04.2015 №30).
The total length of the networks was more than 1.3 thousand kilometers. This could be enough to cover the length of the Dnieper, Neman, and half of the Pripyat rivers that flow through the territory of the Republic of Belarus.
Minsk regional customs is conducting further checks.
