Truck driver moved more than 100 thousand undeclared US dollars across the border
Brest customs officers discovered a large amount of undeclared currency on the Belarusian-Ukrainian border.
A 46-year-old citizen of Ukraine followed by a VOLVO vehicle through Verkhniy Terebezhov republican customs clearance point. When leaving Belarus, he declared the absence of goods for personal use, which are subject to declaration.
However, customs officers found a bundle, wrapped with tape in the cabin among the personal belongings of the driver of the car. It contained 100,000 US dollars subject to customs declaration.
Brest customs initiated the criminal case against the citizen under Part 2 of Art. 228 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus (Contraband).
The Belarusian customs reminds citizens that when moving across the customs border undeclared cash in an amount exceeding the equivalent of $ 30,000, criminal liability is imposed in the form of a fine, or restriction of liberty for a period of 2 to 5 years, or imprisonment for the same time limit.
Cash amount more than 10 thousand US dollars is subject to obligatory declaration.
