Brest customs officers extracted over 2.3 kg of mephedrone from tin cans with canned food labels. The crime was detected at the Brest checkpoint.

The hidden psychotropic substance was imported by the driver of the MAN passenger bus.

During customs control, the customs officer's suspicion was aroused by five tin cans with labels of canned products, which he moved in a package among other food products.

Scanning of the cans using an X-ray machine confirmed that they contain uncharacteristic attachments. Instead of the declared contents, plastic bags with a loose white substance were extracted from them.

According to the conclusion of the expert of the Department of SFEC in the Brest region, the substance is a particularly dangerous psychotropic substance - mephedrone.

During further operational search measures, Brest and Operational Customs officers identified a person suspected of committing a crime and being the recipient of this product.

Brest Customs has opened a criminal case against the suspect and other unidentified persons under Part 2 of Article 328-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. The maximum penalty under the sanction of the article is imprisonment for 10 years.
