At the checkpoint «Kotlovka » Grodno customs officers revealed an attempt to illegally import from Lithuania to the territory of the Eurasian Economic Union a batch of fruits and berries worth almost 100 thousand US dollars.
According to the information provided by the driver, the semi-trailer of the Lithuanian carrier was carrying fruits and vegetables worth 40 thousand US dollars. At the same time, during the customs control, it was found that the real value of fruit and berry goods transported by the Lithuanian carrier, such as avocados, mangoes, pineapples, watermelons and others, is more than twice the declared value. By submitting false information on the goods, the carrier intended to save about 20 thousand Belarusian rubles on the payment of customs duties.
Upon non-declaration of goods by the Grodno Regional Customs, an administrative process has been initiated in accordance with Part 1 of Article 14.5 of the Administrative Code of the Republic of Belarus. The sanction of the article provides for the imposition of a fine in the amount of up to 30 basic units of the value of illegally moved goods.
